Sometimes, a single gesture is enough to reveal a place. At La Garoupe, it was the gesture of a family who chose summer.
Since 1922, the same horizon has brought us together: caring for the Cap without ever freezing it in time.

In the early 1920s, the Riviera lived mainly in winter. When the fine weather returned, hotels closed and the beaches fell quiet again. La Garoupe was still a secluded shore, covered with seaweed and fishing nets.
In the spring of 1922, Sara and Gerald Murphy discovered the Cap with their children. With their friend Cole Porter, they cleared the stones, raked the sand and set out a few parasols. The beach remained true to itself, but a new way of inhabiting it had begun.
Over the summers that followed, artists, writers and friends gathered in the bay. The Cap became a place for creativity and conversation, elegant without ostentation, open to the sea and to the world.
This story is not about nostalgia. It reminds us that a landscape becomes emblematic when it is loved, cared for and shared. Each generation inherits the Cap with a duty to pass it on.
The association carries this spirit forward. It brings together residents and friends of La Garoupe to protect the territory's delicate balance, defend its character and sustain a community devoted to this singular place.

Protecting the Cap means keeping alive the delicate accord between its landscape, its memory, those who call it home and those who visit it.
